Optional. No installation needed for paste mode.

What the local companion does

A small program on your own computer starts the official Codex CLI in read-only mode and asks it only for your sign-in type and rate limits. It serves these same pages at 127.0.0.1:43187, for this computer only. It never asks for a password, never reads Codex authentication files and never starts Codex tasks.

First target
macOS on Apple silicon with the official Codex CLI 0.157.1
Compatibility
Not verified No real-account run has passed yet.
Sign-in
You stay signed in with the official Codex client. This site never shows a password field.

Two separate storage places: pages on codexquota.com keep readings in this browser for that site, and the companion's pages keep their own on your computer. They are never synced.

Read-only setup not released

There is no download yet. A release is published only after it passes its checks, together with its SHA-256 checksum and the exact start command. Paste mode works now without installing anything.

A release will not install or update the Codex CLI, change your Codex settings or ask you to run anything through a shell pipe.

Local authorization

Open the local address your terminal printed. The link opens this page on 127.0.0.1:43187 and works once, within 2 minutes.

codexquota.com cannot reach the companion. Only the page the companion serves itself can.

Reading status

On the local page, Start reading checks your quota with the official client every 60 seconds. Stop ends it and closes only the program it started. Nothing reads by itself, and other Codex processes are never touched.
